3 Anti-Aging Benefits of Yoga

Feeling a little unstable on your feet? Yoga increases balance.

Are your joints stiff or sore? Yoga extends range of motion.

Do you tire more easily? Yoga develops strength and stamina.

No point in avoiding the fact that we’re all getting older. In fact, as they say, its much better than the alternative.  But, just like with a car, our bodies go through changes with aging that may slow us down, challenge the optimal functioning of our systems, and create risk for future problems. But we all know the obvious  - maintenance!!

“Regular maintenance is critical to ensure the safety, reliability, drivability, comfort and longevity of a car. “ (Wikipedia on car maintenance)

And so it is for our bodies, our homes. These are the places where we live. We want and need them to be safe, both physically and emotionally.

We need to know we can walk, lift, turn, bend, reach, digest, and sleep with confidence. We want to feel comfortable in our bodies, free from aches and pains and we want to last a good long time!

Yoga can help achieve this goal of being and staying safe, reliable, comfortable and long lasting. And anyone can do it.  Age is no barrier to a pleasurable and beneficial yoga practice. Breathing, poses and meditation are available to all, whether elderly, mobility challenged, or dealing with dis-eases of many kinds.  You just need to find the right class and teacher, and embrace yoga with an open heart and mind.
